Meet the Doctors
Dr. Michelle Samosinski
Dr. Michelle Samosinski was born in Montreal, QC and is fluent in both French and English. She relocated to Calgary with her family as a teen, where she later attended the University of Calgary and earned her Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in biological sciences and graduating with distinction in June 2006. After obtaining her degree, Dr. Samosinski took a break from her studies to gain some work experience and travel the world.
She then went on to complete the Doctor of Dental Surgery program at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, where she received the award for outstanding academic achievement and performance in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Sam has spent the last couple of years practicing dentistry in a rural community in Northern BC, but has chosen to relocate to Vancouver Island due to her enjoyment of the outdoors.
Dr. Sam loves the lifelong learning that comes along with the practice of dentistry, and she avidly updates her skills with continuing education courses, with a focus on endodontic therapy (i.e. root canals) and implant treatment planning in recent years. She appreciates the trust that people place in her as a health care professional and takes great pride in making even the most fearful patients as comfortable as possible with her calm and caring demeanour.
Dr. Samosinski likes to spend her spare time travelling and enjoying the outdoors with her husband, Rob. They both share a passion for the mountains and love skiing, hiking, fishing, surfing and scuba diving together. She also loves to garden and cook. Living in Northern BC, they spent a lot of hours making their way down to the Island to enjoy the lakes, mountains and ocean, so when the possibility arose to come to the beautiful Alberni Valley, it was only natural for them to jump at the opportunity. Dr. Samosinski is really excited about the change in lifestyle and is looking forward to experiencing life in Port Alberni, with all its amazing outdoor offerings.
Dr. Jaclyn Brash
Dr. Jaclyn Brash has lived in many areas of BC but is excited to now call Port Alberni home. She is looking forward to delivering quality dental care in a relaxed and comfortable environment. Dr. Brash aspires to make all patients feel informed and knowledgeable about their dental health.
She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Queen’s University in Ontario and followed that with her dental degree from the University of British Columbia. Throughout much of her time in school, Dr. Brash worked in several different positions in environmental science, labour and customer service. After graduating, Dr. Brash worked as a dentist in the West Kootenays and is now coming to us from Newfoundland, where she has enjoyed the change of scenery and the beautiful coast. She is looking forward to being back in her home province and being so close to the water.
She enjoys most outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing and water sports, and is also interested in general fitness. Aside from an active lifestyle, Dr. Brash enjoys baking, cooking and reading. Her partner, Dr. Sergio Pasqua, is also looking forward to starting a new chapter as a chiropractor in the Port Alberni area.
